Our Mission: Platt Fine Art is dedicated to offering our clients works of art by major American artists at reasonable prices and in the finest condition possible. An equally important part of our mission is to uncover works by lesser known artists from the 1930s and 1940s who fell into obscurity but whose talent warrants the attention of our collectors. The gallery continues to establish close-kni

t associations with artist's estates; publish important catalogues and brochures; represent contemporary painters and printmakers; and on a yearly basis holds exhibitions by important Modernists, Social Realists, Regionalists, and Contemporary artists, from the 1930s to the present. Artist's Estates: Platt Fine Art continues to expand the number of artist's estates it represents. Of particular significance for the gallery is the estate of the Bauhaus trained painter and printmaker, Werner Drewes (1899-1985). Our 2005 gallery exhibition, Werner Drewes: Paintings, Woodcuts & Collages, was the first major retrospective of his work in over a decade. Additionally, Platt Fine Art handles the estates of many aritsts from the 1930s and 1940s who were influenced by the famed Regionalist Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975). This includes the work of painter and master lithographer Roger Medearis (1920-2001); the Kansas Regionalist William Dickerson (1904-1972); and Indiana-born Edwin Fulwider (1913-2003), a painter and printmaker of industrial and railroad scenes. Our 2006 gallery show was the first survey of the aritist's work since his death in 2003. Other estates of note currently represented by Platt Fine Art include the New York W.P.A. painter and printmaker Max Arthur Cohn (1903-1998); Adirondack Modernist Harold Weston (1894-1972); the Chicago printmaker Letterio Calapai (1902-1993); Philadelphia Social Realist painter and printmaker Harry Brodsky (1908-1997); Washington, D.C. artist Prentiss Taylor (1907-1991); New York documentary photographer Lee Sievan (1907-1990); Philadelphia Impressionist painter James C. Contemporary Artists: The gallery is also dedicated to its growing representation of contemporary painters and printmakers. These include Karen Whitman's whimsical linocuts of New York City; the aquatint industrial views of William Behnken; the mezzotint work of Robert Kipniss; the rural Kansas paintings and prints by Phil Epp; the very fine prints by Wisconsin artist Larry Welo; and the bold color screenprints of Chicago by Hiroshi Ariyama. Art Fairs: We continue to travel extensively with our busy art fair schedule, including such noted venues as the Lighthouse Way New York Fine Prints and Drawings Fair; the Capital Art Fair in Washington, D.C.; the Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair; the Antiques + Modernism Show in Winnetka, IL; and the St. Louis Fine Print, Rare Book and Paper Arts Fair. Gallery Exhibitions: Since the founding of the gallery in 2001, Platt Fine Art has held one-man shows by such noted artists as Werner Drewes (1899-1985); William Dickerson (1904-1972); Edwin Fulwider (1913-2003); Harold Weston (1894-1972); Harry Brodsky (1908-1977); Max Arthur Cohn (1903-1998); Lee Sieven (1907-1990); and Armin Landeck (1905-1984).
