Caravan of corvettes coming thru

There will be traffic interruptions on Friday, Oct. 21, for the 23rd Annual Hot Springs Corvette Weekend. In addition, the parking area under the Region’s Skybridge at 302 Malvern Avenue will be closed from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, for the event.

There will be traffic interruptions from 3:30 - 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, for the parade on the following route:
• Starting at Convention Blvd. and Laurel St.
• Right on Malvern Ave., then left on Spring St.
• Right on Central Ave., then left onto Whittington Ave., making the loop
• Right on West Mountain Dr. to the top of the summit and back to Whittington Ave.
• Right on Whittington Ave., then onto Park Ave.
• Right on Gorge Rd. to E. Grand Frontage Rd., then left onto E. Grand Ave.
• E. Grand Ave. onto the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway (Exit 6)
• Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway to Malvern Ave. (Exit 9),
• Right on Malvern Ave., then ending at Convention Blvd.

Well ain't that somethin'.

Something pretty amazing and a HUGE tourist attraction for Arkansas will be happening in 2 years! On 4/8/2024 we will experience a total solar eclipse—a rare event! Everywhere between the red lines will be in “totality” and have the full experience! Anywhere along the blue line will have the longest time in totality.

Our hearts are heavy today upon news of US Army Sgt. Andrew Maestas' drowning death at our very own Desoto Lake here in The Village.
It happened at 1pm on Sunday as he attempted to rescue his girlfriend from the water after her kayak capsized. The water was very cold and he capsized and never came back up.

Sgt. Maestas was 22 years old and served in the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

This a sober reminder to always wear a life jacket while boating of any kind on the water.

Even though they were just visiting for the weekend, The Village is very sad for this young couple and especially Maestas' family. RIP
