It’s Official Navarre Beach has its SECOND SEA TURTLE NEST !!! The tracks indicate this nest was constructed by a loggerhead sea turtle. We look forward to more sea turtle moms to arrive on Navarre Beach. Sea turtle nesting season is from May 1st to October 31st. You can be a sea turtle hero by following these steps:

· Pick Up Trash
· Leave It Flat – if you dig holes, fill them in! If you build sandcastles, knock them down before leaving. These are big obstacles for the nesting females.
· Lights Out - Do not use flashlights or other bright white lights on the beach at night. Draw curtains or shades to help shield interior lighting from the beach.
· Leave No Trace - Remove ALL recreational beach items (e.g. tents, canopies, floats, chairs, toys, etc) from the beach EACH night.
· Do Not Disturb - If you are fortunate to see a sea turtle nesting, keep a respectable distance minimum of 50ft, stay out of her line of sight, remain quiet and DO NOT use flash photography. When she leaves, please stay out of the nesting area. These are protected species - disturbing, touching or harassing a nest, hatchling or sea turtle is illegal.
· If you see someone disturbing a nest or sea turtle, please call local law enforcement. Touching or disturbing a sea turtle, hatchling or its nest is a THIRD DEGREE FELONY, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, a $5,000 fine and an additional penalty of $100 per egg. Base Re-opens to public, May 4-7 & May 11-14

Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola will allow public access to the installation May 4 through May 7 as well as May 11 through
May 14. from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. through the West Gate only, located at the south end of Blue Angel Parkway.
Areas of public interest onboard NAS Pensacola include the Pensacola Lighthouse and Maritime Museum, the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM) and Fort Barrancas.

Pickens while a National Park Service Ranger gives an overview of Pensacola Bay’s history. Once we arrive at Ft. Pickens, guests will be taken on a guided tour of the fort!

The National Naval Aviation Museum is pleased to open the flight line behind the museum to view Blue Angels practice flight demonstrations. Gates open at 9:30 AM and the Blues are scheduled to take to the skies at 10:30 AM

Remember, the museum and these practices are open to DoD ID card holders and their guests who can access NAS Pensacola.

**The practices can be viewed from other areas, including Fort Pickens.

NAS PENSACOLA OPENS FOR WEEKEND PUBLIC ACCESS MARCH 25 AND 26.

Access limited to Naval Aviation Museum and Pensacola Lighthouse via West Gate only. No access permitted to Fort Barrancas.

PENSACOLA, Fla (Mar 15, 2023} According to NAS Pensacola..."Public access to NAS Pensacola March 25 and 26 will be available from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. through the West Gate only on Blue Angel Parkway. All guests 18 and older must have a valid picture ID such as driver's license or passport. Access will be available dependent on available parking at the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM) and Pensacola Lighthouse. Once parking is full, public access will be halted until more parking becomes available. Temporary Traffic Control Points will be located
on base to prevent public access to other areas of the installation.

While on the installation, the public will be able to visit the Pensacola Lighthouse and the NNAM. Access to Barrancas National Cemetery is always available to anyone with family interred at the cemetery through the Visitor Control Center at the Main Gate.
The following restrictions will apply:

No weapons (firearms/knives) allowed (to include Concealed Weapon Permit holders)
No backpacks/coolers allowed (diaper bags or medically required bags are acceptable and subject to search)
No alcoholic beverages allowed
No drones allowed (countermeasures will be taken)
Persons with felony convictions are not authorized base access
All vehicles and personnel are subject to security searches and background checks"
