It’s finished!!!!!! 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath on West Gulf Drive, Sanibel FL.
Floors will be refinished end of August. It was a big mountain to climb and I didn’t do it without lots of help and hope. Thank you to all that followed along with kind words and deeds.

Progress on this island is slow but it is happening. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to be back in my home at 95% complete. Many people living back in their homes but very few back in their ground level homes. Giving up was never an option but it was sometimes a thought.

She is back and more beautiful then ever. “I will praise you in this storm” is one of my favorite songs from the band Casting Crowns. It was an easy decision for me to have her painted this way. She was standing after the Hurricane with only a few scratches. My friend Ronnie from the cape painted her.

Heading to Banyan Villa to begin furnishing and landscape. I am excited to be arriving at this point of the journey and putting much of the heartbreak behind me. Lots of new posts and pictures coming in the next few days! Sanibel Strong!!!!

Update on Banyan Villa. Let’s start with the mail box. The trash on West Gulf Drive was piled up so high the trash trucks thought it was part of the trash and pulled it of the ground. 😩 Fortunately I was on the island that week. I went back to check on it they had dropped it in the driveway. It has some damage but it can be fixed.

The yard has been cleaned and the inside is cleaned out and rebuild starts next week. It is scheduled to be finished 🙏 end of April. Thank you to so many beautiful people who have stayed in touch and kept me you your thoughts and prayers. Asking for continued prayers as I work with insurance companies and builder.

I am here in Sanibel for the first time meeting with my contractor, lanscaper and pool company. By the time I leave Tuesday the pool should be cleaned, yard spruced up and cleaned and builder finished designing new floor plan. I have so much support from so many old friends and many new ones. To all who have been part of this journey along the way through 2021 and 2022, you will recognize what little is left and smile. I know that’s what I did when I was finished cleaning these special pieces. To those of you I am mentioning, I hope you will be back soon to see a new Banyan Villa and fall even move in love with it. My sincere gratitude to those friends, you know who your are.

It’s been a difficult time for Sanibel Island and a big loss for Banyan Villa. I have not returned to Sanibel since the hurricane however I think it’s time for an update. Banyan Villa was hit extremely hard and it is still uncertain of the regulations in place for one story homes (either rebuild, tear down or build up with Fema 50/50 rule). They are called Michigan homes and they were built in the 60’s and 70’s all over south west Florida. Approximately 600 on the island.
It could be weeks still until someone will be out to inspect and grant a permit. I have received so many calls and messages from concerned people who love the island and this precious home. I appreciate everyones kind words and deeds and if I missed getting back to you I apologize and hope you found your way to this page. The only update now is that my Michigan home being so close to the gulf is in a holding pattern, waiting for the city to decide their fate. I am asking for your prayers to our Heavenly Father for myself and all who lost so much. Not for all the earthly stuff but the pieces of our hearts and dreams that have been shattered in this storm. I will continue to update as I get information. ❤️

This was on World News Tonight with David Muir last night. It is a video of my home with the manatee still standing in my front yard. I am humbled and grateful by the amount of compassion, support and offers of helping to restore Banyan Villa. I am asking God for the wisdom and strength to navigate waters I never had to tread before. I will praise him in this storm again.! He as shown me the overwhelming kindness and caring of so many who have offer to come
down to help me rebuild and clean . The calls and messages made me feel all the love this world has. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. There is so much good in tragedy. Psalms 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
May God bless the broken hearted. Not just the owners but the many visitors who have loved Sanibel.
