A leopard strolls into an African sunset, as shades of pink and purple light up the sky with a burst of extraordinary color. The leopards curled tail reveals a sinister side to the story, as something else watches on from the shadows.

The warm, dusty air of Central Tuli emphasizes the severity of drought that has gripped the land and like a large python, squeezes the life from its victims. Flames of dust dominate the landscape, swallowing everything in its path. The land and animals patiently wait for the first rains, every day is a day closer to salvation and relief, but until then how many will fall into the jaws of starvation or hunted in darkness.

There are few experiences that rival that of an open photographic hide, where there is absolutely nothing between you and Africa's apex predators, sitting only meters away.

During October and November I'll be spending some time at the Umgede overnight hide, located in South Africa's Greater Kruger Park. I'll be giving a full review of our experiences there in the December Africa Explorer Newsletter so stay tuned for more on the subject of hides.

A huge thanks to and for the opportunity, it's always a pleasure spending some time with you guys - and always an epic adventure, and I look forward to many more trips in the future.

Our guests are currently enjoying the ancient landscapes of Botswana's central Tuli region at This leopard sighting was quite a distance from the road, however with access to drones, they could fly in and photograph it from above, as the leopard lay resting, completely undisturbed by the drone.

Should you like to join us in 2025 on our Tuli Land of Giants Photographic Safari, contact us today for more info.

Spent some time with a female leopard and her cub one morning on a recent photo safari to Botswana's Okavango Delta. As they walked toward the famous 'Leopard Rock,' there was a herd of kudu that peaked their interest. Mother crouched and stalked toward the kudu, but finally realised her small and agile body would be no match for the large antelope, and she let them stroll by, lying only meters from the bachelor herd, completely unaware of her presence. Once they passed, she stalled toward leopard rock and disappeared with the cub into a shady crevice.

We have only 1 Okavango Delta Photo Safari left available for 2025, don't miss out on this spectacular experience and book your safari today!

Brutal conditions engulf Botswana's Savuti region as wildlife endure a grueling dry season, while the hope of rain diminishes like every other small cloud in the vast desert sky. To try and capture these tough conditions in a photograph is virtually impossible, and how these animals survive is a testament to their intense resilience. We observed a herd of elephant swallowed up by a dust storm, disappearing behind a cloud of sand as they stood on the parched where water once flowed, a humbling experience that left myself and my guests in awe.

We will be heading back to this region in November to try capture the seasons first storms, and believe it's going to be dramatic and powerful as the tension and heat builds. Change comes quickly, but the wait seems like forever.

Yesterday we finished the first of 2 Okavango Delta Photographic Safaris and what an unreal experience it was. The lion, leopard and wild dog sightings were off the charts and as we drove back to Maun yesterday, a feeling of pure content filled the vehicle, with happy guests and full cards.

What an absolutely incredible place this is!

Tomorrow our new guests arrive and we get to do it all over again! If you'd like to read all about our experiences during September, subscribe to our Africa Explorer newsletter at www.rhulanisafaris.com - the next October Newsletter will be released on 01 October and covers our Sabi Sand and first Okavango safaris of September.

Want to join us in 2025 and have some questions? Why not set up a Teams Meeting and we can talk you through the entire experience including what can be expected as well and what equipment to bring. Contact us at [email protected] for more info!

Our Story

Established in 2017, Rhulani African Tours and Safaris (Rhulani Safaris) strives to give our guests the best possible African Wildlife Safari experience. With almost 10 years of experience in the field prior to the establishment of Rhulani Safaris, Armand has hand picked the best locations in South Africa and Botswana to operate his tours from, giving you the ultimate experience. Armand’s great passion is with the predators of Africa, especially the Big Cats and has a special connection with them, especially the leopard - who he was fortunate enough to raise at a younger age, living with them and building a unique understanding and bond - who he always tries to find and treat his guests with. After growing up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Armand has returned to his place of birth, South Africa and now lives his dream out in the wilderness, not restricted to South Africa only, but also Botswana and Mozambique! Follow us at Rhulani Safaris and keep up to date with our Safaris and Armand’s adventures.

Since establishment, Armand and Rhulani Safaris have made endless dreams come true as guests from all around the globe join him on his photographic adventures. Currently Armand is working on a Photo and Film Project in the Greater Kruger Park, South Africa as he lives out his passion in the bush. Find out why so many choose Armand and Rhulani Safaris and allow us to make your dream African Safari a reality!
