"We had a great time on UTracks' Danube bike and barge trip.

Our cabin had a balcony, was clean, had a comfortable bed and a functioning bathroom.

The bikes were in great condition and the ride was achievable. We chose to use the old-fashioned push bikes, but many people were riding the e-bikes.

The meals were absolutely delicious and well received at the end of each day. Breakfast were plentiful with freshly cooked eggs. A picnic lunchbox and afternoon tea was also included.

The staff running the kitchens, the bicycles and the room cleaners were absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend this tour.

We went at the end of April, it was perhaps the first trip of the year and relatively quiet. We were lucky with the weather.

We will be looking to find another such experience on the UTracks website.".

"My daughter and I loved cycling the quiet backroads of Puglia and wandering through the medieval towns at night to find wonderful Italian restaurants.

It suited us to travel independently at our own pace and spend time visiting with each other rather than getting to know a big group of strangers." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Cycle by day, sleep on a barge in a canal by night – could there be anything more Dutch?

This eight-day, escorted cycle tour explores the byroads and rivers of the Netherlands, from Amsterdam to Maastricht, on bike and foot covering 284 kilometres.

The tour, which can be done in either direction, ticks off all the Dutch icons – windmills and cheese factories – and criss-crosses borders to refuel with cake in Germany, or a refreshing beer in Belgium..."

Hear from UTracks team member Anthony, proud lover of all things French, and become inspired to explore France thanks to his great advice and recommendations.

❓ Can you describe your favourite food and drinks in France?

πŸ—£οΈ I find French food so consistently impressive, so I always eat well when I’m there!

In terms of a favourite, I do love some escargot (make sure you dunk the bread into the persillade!), but the humble croissant is always a winner, especially at the local boulangeries.

For a drink, in France, how could I not say wine? I have visited all of the major wine regions in France and been consistently blown away by the dedication and quality. The best thing about it as well is that it’s so much easier to find a decent well priced glass or bottle from the local Cave (wine shop). Look out for the prestigious Chateauneuf-du-Pape if you’re a fan of grenache, and a glass of Sauternes with dessert is an experience not to be missed.

Across the mountains of the world, via ferratas have become a modern fashion, now clipped onto cliffs in the likes of Wanaka, Whistler, Mount Kinabalu and, most recently, Mount Buller.

But the historic heartland of these β€˜iron ways’, which involve climbing or traversing exposed mountains and cliffs on metal rungs, cables, suspension bridges, ladders and even rickety wooden walkways, is the Dolomites of northern Italy, where via ferratas were first established in World War I to move troops and equipment across the craggy peaks.

[As reported by DEADLINE] Emilio Estevez’s The Way: Chapter 2, reunites the actor-director with the cast members of his original 2010 hit, father Martin Sheen, Yorick Van Wageningen and James Nesbitt.

The sequel revisits protagonist Tom (Sheen) a decade after his first pilgrimage on Spain’s El Camino de Santiago in the footsteps of his deceased son Daniel (Estevez), as he reconnects with his walking companions Joost (van Wageningen) and Jack (Nisbitt).

Now embedded with Doctors Without Borders in northern Nigeria, performing surgery in a war zone, Tom is sent a copy of Jack’s bestselling book based on their shared experience, in which a disturbing secret is revealed.

Enraged, he leaves to search for Jack and find answers to questions that have haunted him for a decade. His journey reunites him with Joost and leads them through Amsterdam, Dublin, Brussels and France before returning to Spain and the Camino.

The film is currently in pre-production.

8. Walk the Lycian Trail.

Stretching 500km-plus from Fethiye to Antalya along the southern coast of Turkey, the Lycian Trail is not only the go-to for those spectacular coastal views, but the mountainous hike serves up a bounty of archaeological treasures (some dating as far back as the eighth century) as well as quaint villages to explore.

A great self-guided tour is UTracks’ eight-day Lycian Way Coastal Walk, which includes accommodation, many meals, transfers, maps and GPS tracking.
