Encompass Care provides emergency relief and support to low-income earners in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne and the Whittlesea Shire.

Our Purpose is to assist individuals or families in crisis by providing services which are client centered and focus on improving the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of those in our community we do this through our services which include....

The Food Crisis and Referral Centre

In the Crisis Centre, we offer lesser fortunat

e individuals from the community a parcel of food (incorporating fresh fruit and vegetables, pasta, bread, dairy and much more), generally enough to get them by for a few of days. Clients are able to talk with our trained volunteers about the plights they face in their day to day lives: be it financial hardship, depression or other serious issues. The Centre is open from 9:30am to 3:00 pm every Tuesday and 9:30am to 12:30pm every Wednesday, including school holidays. The Community Café

Our Community Café runs from 10:00am to 12:30pm every Tuesday. This aims to break social isolation and is a safe place where people in our community come for connection. Our friendly volunteers provide a morning tea, lunch and a listening ear. Our program includes guest speakers and loads of fun. We also hold other programs and classes such as budgeting, cooking classes and games,

The Breakfast Program

The breakfast program is run at the nearby Primary School in our local area. Every Tuesday our volunteers prepare and hand out free toasted cheese sandwiches or “toasties”. On average, 80-90% of the school’s students are fed on a weekly basis. We also run an excursion for the students to our Crisis Centre. This helps to develop a better understanding of community and exposes the children to the concept of others being less fortunate. As a result, the school has also implemented a “Good Samaritan Award”, in recognition of two students that display the values of care assistance others.

Encompass Care Vic would like to thank Woolworths Mernda for all their support over the last 3 years. They have supported our Mernda Activity Centre Food room with fresh produce - fruit and vegetables. We are so thankful to Woolworths for their generosity towards the community and for always being so lovely to our team on a weekly basis. Partnership like this make such a difference to the vulnerable people in our community.
