‘Lhabab Duchen’ or Descending Day of Lord Buddha is observed on the 22nd day of the ninth lunar month, to honor the day Lord Buddha returned to the human realm. The day is auspicious to light butter lamps, burn incense, and offer special prayers to Lord Buddha; and also remember in our prayers, all the special people in our lives who are tirelessly, sacrificing and serving the nation and the welfare of the Bhutanese people.

Lhabab Duchen is also celebrated as ‘Mother’s Day’ in Bhutan! KOMS fraternity reaches out to all the mothers in prayers for good health, happiness, and gratitude for their role in the upbringing of healthy, talented sons and daughters for Bhutan.

Dechenphu Tshechu is a religious festival in Bhutan that honours Gay Ngyen Jakpa Melen, a highly revered guardian deity. It's the only day when foreign visitors are allowed to visit the courtyard of this sacred temple. Gay Ngyen Jakpa Melen is a deity whom the Bhutanese people pray to for good luck or before starting important life journeys; It's common to see students visiting the temple before exams. This year the festival will be held on 24th October.
