Tashichho Dzong (Dzongkha: เฝเฝเพฒเผเฝคเฝฒเฝฆเผเฝเฝผเฝฆเผเฝขเพซเฝผเฝ) is a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu. It has traditionally been the seat of the Druk Desi (or "Deb Raja"), the head of Bhutan's civil government, an office which has been combined with the kingship since the creation of the monarchy in 1907, and summer capital of the country.In old British documents, it is known as Tassisudon.

9th September 2022:
His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen offered a thousand Butterlamps at Samtse this morning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, who passed away yesterday.
Special marme moenlam (prayers to offer light) were performed for the ceremony, which was attended by the Prime Minister, government officials, and thousands of people of Samtse. Thongdrol (gigantic appliquรฉ images) of Guru Rinpoche and Zhabdrung were unfurled for the ceremony, to sanctify the important occasion.
His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Members of the Royal Family were joined by government officials and foreign dignitaries in Thimphu to offer a thousand Butterlamps and prayers at the Grand Kuenrey of Tashichhodzong.
The National Flag was flown at half mast today as a mark of respect to the late Queen. Upon Royal Command, special prayers were performed in all the important dzongs, temples and monasteries across Bhutan.
Bhutan and the United Kingdom share warm and friendly relations going back to the time of the First Druk Gyalpo.
Their Majesties are on a Royal Tour of the south with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
