Just checked out Port Williams' new taproom .ns

The Port Pub was purchased in January by two people who run the Moonrise Farm up Canning way for the cider, and the Brig & Barq brewery out on the Windsor Backroad. They wanted a retail space for both businesses, so they reconfigured the Port and did a great job!

I don't believe they've had a grand opening yet (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm sure it'll attract lots of attention once people are aware. That side deck was always underutilized, but what a place to soak in the river.

This now brings the number of local breweries within a 19-minute drive of Wolfville to 7!

ale

I've always said, if you're going to drink, drink local! 🍻

With all this in mind, who wants a beer tour??
The wineries get a lot of attention, but we could easily focus on these brewhouses.

Cheers to a gorgeous mid-September day in the Valley. It's my only day of the week without a tour, so it's a good day to explore. If you haven't noticed, there's a lot going on 'round here!

In late September of last year, I was asked by to conduct a week-long tour of Southern Nova Scotia for two American guests. I've worked with this Californian-based, Walking Tour company a few times over the years with , but this was the first time I had a full week, solo gig. I was up for it!

The older guest bought the package for the younger as a way to get her mind off some recent life things. What an amazing gift from a remarkable friend. This was a very amazing trip... although somewhat challenging. I reckon we all had fun

Neither of them wanted to be on social media, so you won't see them in these next 3 posts. But yeah, this adventure was so robust that I couldn't simply summarize it into just 10 pictures.

Kevin and I drove to the car rental at the airport in my van so that he could then pick up different guests at the Halifax docks to help & with a large gig. T'was our first time all working together, and I recall smiling at this partnership whilst getting into my week-long rental van. Somehow, it all came together nicely.

My first activity with my guests was walking up to the Citadel for a bird's eye view of the city. We then meet up with for a Halifax Walking Tour.

Next up was a road trip down the coast to Peggy’s Cove before settling into Lunenburg for 3 nights. They stayed while I was put up . That worked for me! T'was super fun to feel like a Lunenburg local...I even made sure to crash a party at the shipyards on the second night.

Activities on the South Shore included a winery stop , lunch in Lahave at the , a sandy walk on Cresent Beach, a walking tour of Lunenburg with and a stop in Mahone Bay . My guests told me that they discovered in Lunenburg as well.

Thank you for the opportunity to grow my tour guiding career !!

Her daughter was part of one of my first tours in 2023, so that's why this tour happened in mid-September.

She wasn't interested in him 16 years ago, but his squeaky wheels finally earned a phone call. From there, they watched the Grey Cup together, and the rest is history.

They've gone on a few cruises together around the world, but this day, we were cruising throughout the stopping at various producers. This sunny day had us stopping at a winery, a cidery, and a distillery.

I picked them up at the Wu Center and headed east through town to in Lower Wolfville. They have a pretty solid flight of 4 of their most popular wines: Tidal Bay, Compass Rose, Marquette, and Sauvage (white for red lovers). It's the same flight this year, which makes sense as the people love it!

After a brief stop for a history lesson, we hit the highway to for a cidery tour with a happy followed by an amazing lunch made by
I love myself a chicken sando

We drove up to for a bird's eye view of the Valley before making it out to in Port Williams for a liquor tour. This producer uses many of the surrounding inputs that are grown in our fertile countryside. Everything is connected here. We're all on the same team.

As for today, I'm off to the new cottages in between Halls Harbour and Huntington Point to pick up a group of 6. The new van looks sharp and it's ready to hit the road. Keep the recommendations a'comin please...I could do this every day.

My friend was a good boy last September when he bought this wine tour for his mother and her two friends. I picked them up in Bedford at their condo and zipped them into the

Ann sat up front, so we were able to have a wonderful catch-up. Jarred became a friend 21+ years ago when I first moved to . His dad sold insurance, like my dad did, so that connection automatically brought us a little closer. Like me, he lost his dad a few years ago... I'm actually tearing up right now thinking about it. I have no doubt that they would have been friends as well....I'm sure they've already met up there, connecting over license plates.

Stop 1 was where, fittingly, we bumped into working for . She was part of that same friend group 21 years ago... back when we all had good hips and knees. I made sure to send Jarred that selfie of us as soon as I took it.

Stop 2 was for and wine tastings. Thanks for the wonderful customer service, as always, Andrew.

Stop 3 was .ridge for more wine tastings and dessert. Look at those treats! Yes, they tasted as good as they looked.

Stop 4 was , literally next door. Mel and Jake wowed them again with their natural charm and passion for what they do.

Thank you so much for the wonderful adventure and for the pleasant memories. Our dads loved us so much. It's up to us to make the most of the time we still have and to share the gifts that they helped to instill within us.

Here's to pops.

How's this wet Saturday treating you?

Going into this weekend, I was a little disappointed not to have much going on beyond a transportation gig and a Wolfville Walking Tour. But...perhaps I ought to be grateful to be warm and dry right now. It gives me a chance to post about last September's wine tour with my poster kids!!

This was Nancy's third time touring with . In fact, the year prior, took photos of her crew that we used on our rack cards and website. We tried to recreate the magic with a series of new poses.

They were staying at an on Belcher Street in Port Williams, so I picked them up there and zipped them just down the road to
Once again, Mel and Jake provided amazing customer service as the guests worked through their flights of

Stop two was just down the road again , where they were able to kick back on their breathtaking deck. One of their best-selling wines, On The Deck, was inspired by this view, no doubt.

Stop 3 was where Michelle was able to provide another hilarious guided tasting. Too bad she's not behind their wine bar this year, but there's always staff turnover wherever you go. Have you ever thought of working at a winery? What a fun gig!!

As we headed back to Port Williams, there was time to have a bonus stop .ale, where provided another passionate tour experience. Speaking of people no longer there... you're missed, bud.

Nancy's hubby received a ding on his phone every time the VISA was used, so she tried to use it as often as possible! She made a nice little haul by the end of the day

As for now, please continue to think of me for all your tour and transportation needs. It was a record-setting June... but there's always room for more!

A few years ago, I bought Yakima bike racks for the top of the van with the thought of offering bike transportation services . Although I've yet to have enough bookings to earn my investment back, this trip in early September for this Vancouver crew was a step in the right direction.

The 8 of them were in the South Shore near Mahone Bay, and half of them wanted to bike across the province to Wolfville. The other half, though, wanted to be picked up , so I did.

When coming through , I happened to see a van geared up to the brim. Now that's how you transport bikes!!

Our destination was the in Grand Pre. Except for one, it was everyone's first time in , so I did my best to sell the place during our time together (not a hard task). They had arrived 6 days prior, and their time in the Annapolis Valley was to be the end of their adventure. After dropping them off, I was able to just squeek in under the wire for my Magic Wine Bus shift. T'was another busy tourism day in the for me. Just as I like it!

As for this week, gigs have popped up for tomorrow and Sunday, along with a new airport transportation request for Saturday evening after my tour for 6 is complete. Yes! Bring it on, I can handle more private tour and transportation requests. Thanks again for your continued support.

Peak season last year continued with a mid-week afternoon adventure for these two from Philadelphia.

They were staying at the , so I made sure to inform them that they also offer private wine tours. Robyn and Neil do such a wonderful job with their quaint, yellow B&B on Main Street. Of course, the sign on the door in early September said no vacancy.

Peter was his natural, informative, cool self during their guided tastings. Seeing as he was also a grower, he's a real pro when discussing the local grape industry. The washertoss was a huge hit as well.

She's a nurse practitioner while he works for Coke, so I made sure to tell him about the second largest Green Coke sign still in Windsor on the Blanchard Building that actually pre-dates the offcial red and white colour scheme.

Seeing as it was their first time here, they were really making the most of their time in Nova Scotia. The days before were spent in Digby whale watching and staying in Bear River, while the next day, they were driving up to Inverness in Cape Breton for 4 days. There's so much to do here. There's never enough time.

Stop 2 was for guided tastings with Colleen. It was here where I learned that they met online 9 years ago and were married in 2021 during Covid. He dabbles in surfing, and they were both surprised to learn that most things are closed on Labour Day (welcome to rural NS).

After a brief history lesson break , stop 3 was in the for more guided tastings with Emily. They both ordered a Nova 7 afterward on their patio deck, and that told me that, overall, they've been very pleased with what we have to offer.

Great vibes with these two all day!
Thank you for the booking and the opportunity to show off our delicious Valley.

As for this week in mid-June, I don't have too much booked, but that doesn't mean I won't be busy. There never seems to be enough hours, does there?

The Beer of Fundy.
away and his crew of beer enthusiasts from set up a four day beer festival last September, and they asked me to be a part of it.

I drove a few guests from their brewery at exit 10 to Avonport and led them to the beer tent set up on the Bay of Fundy floor (well, the Minas Basin). In between the 6 beer samples and explanations from Al, I chipped in with facts and stories about the surrounding countryside.

With the highest tides in the world steadily incoming, we had to pack up and move to the shore before the sixth beer. Once there, though, I switched hats and shared some of Jerome's content from . T'was one of the most unique locations for a local history lesson yet!

In addition to the , the breweries participating that day included

What a fun event to be part of... although I'm not 100% sure if it's happening again this year. I wouldn't be surprised if was though as this brewery tends to stay very active with creative activities. I'll lift a glass to that. Thanks for all of your efforts.

As for this week....
It's already been my busiest/best June, but too bad this week is looking light. So, please let me know if you're looking for adventure in the !

You know it's been a productive day in the when a luggage trolly is needed to bring in your haul.

This was the third time these two couples from New Brunswick booked with Where It's At Tours, and the fourth time is already in the calendar for this upcoming September. We're systematically going to all 11 wineries surrounding Wolfville. Should there be a fifth booking, I suggest checking out the three in Hants County.... and the year after that, the three down the Valley!! Better bring another trolly...

This particular day in early September was spent north of the river with stops at &
The weather was perfect, and the eagles were soaring.

Have you ever noticed how delicious our Valley is!??

Ron's back was feeling better (I hope that's still the case), while the other three are still working (to support their tastes).

Once again, they purchased the at the , so that's where I picked them up and dropped them off

Thank you so so much for your continued interest in ...I really ought to work on a commission structure for your next visit.

As for today, I'm thrilled to be teaming up with on a tour for 9. This industry is small and mighty, so it makes sense to work together.

T'was a time rolling with Ed $$money$$ and crew!

Although the morning got off to a delayed start, we still made the most of it. I picked them up in early September and took them to three local producers.

It was Sophia's last day , but she set the tone with her knowledgeable guided tasting.

Conor was his normal, agreeable, personable self and was able to connect well with everyone.

While Lauren actually knows a mutual friend of theirs quite well. Small world

Near the end of the Half-Day morning tour, I found out that one of these Pubnico couples was actually celebrating their 7th anniversary. Thanks for booking your fun day with (let's do it again this year....Epic styles).

The one fella is a lobster fisherman who painted a somewhat bleak forecast for the industry. If everyone plays by the same rules, there could be lobster for everyone. However, if fellas aren't able to make their boat payments, there could be an escalation. I'll be keeping my eyes on the situation. Apparently, the Yarmouth lobster season is March 31 - June 29. I look forward to hearing his updates.

As for this gorgeous Friday morning in the Gaspereau Valley, I've been busy with the inbox. The only way I can post about these fun adventures is if I do the leg work, spending hours in front of the screen. I'm not complaining, I'm really digging the career I'm creating for myself... but it requires discipline. Gotta do the paperwork in order to do the fun things.

Thank you so so much for your growing support. Promoting this Valley is worth the effort.

This was a memorable, full, first day in Nova Scotia for her.

This lovely Toronto couple run an Airbnb in Kentville that they rent to nurses and staff of the hospital. So I picked them up there on the first day of September and took them to 5 surrounding local producers... t'was a little of everything.

The adventure started in the with a wine stop . She was a sport and tried the Spanish olives for the first time... but I'm now being a sport by not posting those pictures.

Stop 2 was more wine with Colleen followed by lunch . Those duck fat fries, though!!

After a brief history lesson,
, stop 3 was in for cider tastings . As always, Dave's customer service and attention to detail were apple-solutely on point.

Justin provided another detailed guided tasting and tour at our 4th stop. I haven't been to yet this season, but spending time there always lifts my spirits.

Try as she might, she wasn't able to convince Sam to take her to the T-Swift concert in Toronto. They were digging the beer, though.

Throughout the day, we discussed Blue Jays trivia, and I learned that they first met at Guelph University because he was late to class. The only seat left was next to this cute girl....

We connected from the get-go, and now they have booked for a second full day in a few months. Repeat business is always a positive sign.

June has been very positive thus far. In fact, today is my first day off for a little while. Good thing it's sunny, I reckon it's time for a bike rip in the Gaspereau!

August ended with a full day excursion for these lifelong friends.

The two of us had picked up the one still living in the UK the week prior at the airport, but now it was time for an excursion to the South Shore. What fun!

To me, it's really a letdown that Oak Island is still closed to the public as it's been years of them saying it's a work site. We did, however, stumble upon a decent Money Pit exhibit in Chester's train station VIC. Thanks for the guided chat and bending of the bathroom usage rules.

Leaving Chester were these vintage cars in a parking lot. We all enjoyed checking them out as there's much beauty to be found in older vintages.

A seafood lunch was found followed by an exploration of Mahone Bay, including the factory. I've always enjoyed taking my guests here as they do a great job explaining and demonstrating the process.

No trip to the is complete without checking out Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's the best preserved example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Topography be dammed, they put those grid roads straight up the hills.

Friendships take effort to foster, especially when there's distance involved, and true friends can go a long time between seeing each other without skipping a beat. What an honour it was to witness the love and respect these two had for each other. Thank you for such an enjoyable day 💕

Today, I'll be training a new driver guide with my morning tour for two before picking up a crew of 6 for the afternoon. Saturdays have been treating me very well thus far... and I'm here for it! If the goal is to have the best season yet, then I feel like I'm on the right path.

This was an Epic Day!!

reached out to me to deliver a unique Nova Scotia adventure... and I was up for the challenge.

I picked up mom and her daughters (from Ontario) at at 8am and headed into WolfVegas for a

They appreciated all the boutique shops we have to offer, so we stopped in at many of them:
.wolfville ... and more!

Then it was off to and the Grand Pre National Historic Site for detailed history lessons. They do such a great job explaining who the Acadians are, how they transformed the land, and where they went during the 1755 deportation.

We had to stop for wine somewhere, so it was up the hill to for tastings, lunch, and obligatory phonebox photos.

The Lookoff was our next destination for breathtaking views of the Valley, and ice cream. This provided us with the fuel needed for the most vigorous portion of the day, hiking the Jodrey Trail at Cape Blomidon Provincial Park. Next time, I'll bring bug spray. I'm still sorry about that.

Dinner was the best Korean nachos in Canning , before finally getting them back on time later that evening. As mentioned, t'was an Epic Day!

The next morning, I got them all to the airport, and they provided me with all their leftovers from I ate like a second-hand king for a few days.

If you're not that into wine, we can still have a time in the !!
Keep the bookings a'comin, this has been my best start to the season yet.

Thanks for thinking of me. These two were great!

They were staying on Gaspereau River Road at a wonderful new place . So, I picked them up there and took them to .ridge , &

They had mutual friends, so she walked by his apartment on the regular to get his attention. He finally figured it out!

Great vibes all day. Look at the charcuterie board at !!

As for today, what a stunner in the Gaspereau Valley. We live in paradise, don't we?

Please keep the recommendations a'comin. There's room for more bookings and local wine to be consumed!

This was a fun Friday afternoon in late August.

This military family has lived in four provinces, but mom wants her back in Canada after her veterinary school across the pond is over. If not, she expects to receive yearly first class - or business class - tickets!

I picked them up in Wolfville and drove them down the Valley to Kentville . Jimi
provided us with a wonderful guided cider tasting before we sat down for lunch. I crushed my favorite chicken sando, the Spicy Motherclucker!

Next up was where
provided a fun guided tasting. It's enjoyable to watch location staff come into their own with their presentation styles. The more you do, the confidence grows, and this young fella did great! Of course, there was time for pictures at the phonebox.

Our final stop was for more guided tastings with . We then sat by the fire with more wine, before hitting the grass for some serious washertoss action.

Apparently, they followed my advice and went to for dinner. Based on what they were asking for, I figured that would be a perfect fit.

Thank you so much for the booking, let's do it again this year! Speaking of this year, I'm running a Google ad for the business, and I reckon it's generating results. Keep the inquires a'comin, now it's the time to make some hay!

Nebraska, honestly, it's not for everyone.

The state actually retired this official tourism slogan a few months ago. Can you imagine?
That makes, "New Minas, it's a good place to live", seem so much better.

These two Nebraskan friends since high school love to travel together. T'was their first time to Nova Scotia, and they rented an electric vehicle... something they won't do again. They discovered that there's a lack of electric infrastructure in rural Nova Scotia!

I picked them up in Wolfville and took them to for a guided cider experience with Jimmy and for lunch. Dessert was found at our second location .ridge , while Cameron provided the guided tasting

Seeing as rapport was established, and seeing that they brought it up, but it was under the BB tent where we discussed American politics (never a dull moment). As a tour guide, I wouldn't recommend starting with this topic, but as a tour guide, it's also important to have a general knowledge of current events to be able to intelligently jump from subject to subject.

Anyhow, they bought a bottle of to consume on their patio deck that evening overlooking Church Brewing... never a dull moment in WolfVegas!

As for today, inquires keep coming in, and the new van is sparkling ready for an afternoon tour for two, followed by an evening Apple Blossom Ghost Walk in Kentville....never a dull moment indeed!
