Discovering the magical world of Lud’s Church 😯🌳 This deep, moss-covered chasm is the backdrop of many local myths and legends ✨

In the 15th century it was used as a secret place for worship and other local legends say Robin Hood and Friar Tuck stayed in the cleft whilst hiding from the authorities 🧝

Close to the Roaches in Leek and Staffordshire’s Back Forest, the 18 metre deep chasm is covered from top to bottom in vibrant moss 🌿

This 7-mile walk from Alstonefield winds alongside the River Dove through the village of Milldale and to the start of Dovedale. It takes in some spectacular highlights from hidden caves to limestone rock formations through the valley.
