The Twig

Located on the edge of the popular village of Mells up a long private driveway, The Twig offers stylish accommodation in the heart of Somerset's most stunning countryside. The property is close to Longleat and Bath.

We have four different spaces, including a cottage, a treehouse, two cabins and two vintage caravans. We also have two lotus bell tents. You can rent all of the spaces separately, or - if you are a larger group wanting to share a holiday or celebrate a special occasion - you can hire the entire place. We can accommodate up to sixteen people - more if people would like to camp in the orchard and paddock.

Lower Twig has a sitting room with sofa bed, dining area, kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom. It has a TV, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, stove, microwave and shower. There is a double bed and sofa bed - it’s suitable for a family of three.

Upper Twig has two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is also a sitting room with a sofa bed, a dining area, and kitchen. There is a TV, fridge, dishwasher, oven, stove and microwave. It’s suitable for a family of four.

Twiglet is a treehouse and shepherds hut - a perfect romantic getaway for couples. Guests can sleep under the stars, surrounded by nature. Downstairs is a private bathroom. Next door is a shepherds hut kitchen with sitting area. It's suitable for two adults.

Twigbox is a converted horsebox with a kitchen, its own fridge and cooking facilities. Attached is a horse trailer which has been converted into a bathroom. It's suitable for a couple, two singles or a family of three.

Twig Wagon is our second converted horsebox which also has its own cooking facilities. Attached is a horse trailer which has been converted into a bathroom. It’s suitable for a couple, two singles or a family of three.

We also have two vintage caravans which can accommodate a further two people in each.

Daisy and Johnny Steel run The Twig at Branch Farm. We are enthusiastic and caring hosts and enjoy meeting all our guests. We love what we do and believe that wonderful surroundings are a big part of making people feel comfortable and giving them an experience they’ll treasure. One of us always tries to be there to greet our guests as they arrive and often our dog Barley is bouncing along beside us, eager to say hello. We also have a Burmese cat, Bluebell. From the moment you set foot in the door we’ll do everything we can to make sure you have an extra special stay.

There is a huge amount of outside space to be enjoyed at The Twig at Branch Farm. Just in front of the property is a sunny walled garden where you can sit out on the table and chairs provided and eat al fresco. On the other side of the garden is a large tree lined pond with a pretty water feature where the tree house and shepherds hut are situated. From there, you can take a stroll through the orchard and walk across the field to the village. There is also a lovely play area for children. The village of Mells, which dates back to the 11th century, is thought to be one of the prettiest in Somerset. It has an award winning pub, the Talbot Inn, a village shop and cafe, a church and many historic buildings. The Twig is located five minutes from Babington House, 5 minutes from Vobster diving centre, 15 minutes from Longleat and 30 minutes from the Roman city of Bath. Bruton and Cheddar Gorge are 20 mins away, Bristol and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive.
