🌳 Today is Celebration Day: an annual day to remember the lives of those who are no longer here and who have shaped us. To mark the day, the National Trust has presented The King – their Patron - with the first seedling grown from seed collected from the Sycamore Gap tree. The tree was a popular landmark which grew in a natural dip in the countryside along Hadrian's Wall before it was chopped down in September 2023.

When the seedling has grown, His Majesty hopes to scale it in Windsor Great Park, where in time the wind will help ensure that its seeds, in their turn, are still more widely distributed. Part of the power of trees to move and console us lies in the continuity and hope they represent: the sense that, rooted in the past and flourishing in the present, their seeds will be carried into an as yet unimaginable future.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Alyn Wallace.

Alyn's exceptional images and insightful tutorials have influenced a whole generation of astrophotographers.

He certainly made astronomy and photography accessible to everyone, and we're sure his work will continue to inspire. R.I.P Alyn.

Getting ready to welcome the first Guests of the summer.

Hill House Hideaway morning, walk after yesterday’s sleet and snow, today, the sun shining clouds in the sky, but beauty all around

Weather is a little dull, but still we have beauty as the small blue tit feeds, It’s Young on the fence

I am sitting in the café. Observing the wall in sheer quietness.

A Chilli walk back from church, but still view is well worth it. All of the puddles are still frozen but the beauty still hits me hard.

Out for my morning walk of beautiful bright shining moon. I’m sure it has Mars with it. It did last night, over to the east and over to the west the Sun is rising.

The weather is so cold, but the sky is beginning another beautiful day not a cloud in sight and the Sun is creeping up to have it say. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

How for the morning walk! And yes, again, we have a beautiful Sunrise and a lovely blue sky such a change from the past few days. Have a lovely day everyone.
