Dornoch beach was absolutely packed today as you can see! We had a lovely lunch at The Highland Larder then a walk along the beach. We even had the RAF doing some flybys in their Eurofighter Typhoons.

Well, thankfully all of the damage from the “escape of water” is now fixed and The Barn is ready for the new season. Big thanks to James Lockhart and Craig for sorting out the ceilings, walls etc and to Jimmy Anderson,the sparks from Dornoch. Our first guests arrive on Friday😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our morning visit to the Falls of Shin. We’ve not seen the water at this level before, it was absolutely thumping! The visitor centre is in the shape of a salmon, and you walk along the walkway starting at the stunning tail which was made by a local blacksmith/fabricator.

It’s that time of year again 🤗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. After the long summer nights it’s dark enough to see the northern lights again. We’ve got some winter availability at the moment if you want to try to see them. Fingers crossed we get the right conditions to see the aurora again soon.

What a difference the flowers make to the honey. The lighter jar is earlier while the gorse and broom is flowering, but now it’s heather and rosebay willow-herb giving us a much darker honey. It’s all lovely though. Thank you bees🤗🐝🐝🐝🐝🤗. (If you’re passing we’ve got some for sale😎)

It’s been an eventful week so far. I stopped and watched this lovely otter in Bonar Bridge this lunchtime. Our neighbours down at Balloan Farm we’re gathering their lambs for the Dingwall sale this morning while I was walking Ottley, and we went down to see the Lairg auction yesterday which is one of the largest single day sheep auctions in Europe. It’s only Wednesday! Honey harvest to come at the weekend 🐝🐝🐝

Ottley took me for a walk up Ben Bhraggie this morning. Contrary to popular belief, the sun doesn’t always shine in the highlands! Still, it didn’t rain, the midges around here seem to be nonexistent this year, and the blaeberries were everywhere. The heather is just coming into bloom, so the hills will be a gorgeous purple soon.
