Today I have said 'Goodbye' to 2 more playmates who are ready to spread their wings and move onto to new adventures.

I have loved having them as part of my gang for the past 2 years. They have both grown, developed and learnt so much.

Its always hard to see them go but I know they will thrive in their new settings and learn and develop even more xx

This morning was soooo windy!!
Seemed only right that we made our own kites to fly.
We used the felt pens to decorate our paper kites, we laminated them, added a ribbon and headed out to see if we could get them in the air.
The children quickly realised the faster they ran the longer the kite flew up in air behind them!!

They absolutely loved it!! Xx

It was time to say goodbye to my longest serving mindee today.

She started at my setting at 9mths old and she walked out the day today at 4 years old!!
I have seen her learn to crawl, learn to walk and get all her teeth.
When she started she didnt have much hair and now a full head of curls.
I heard her first babbles and now listen to her very long conversations.
We have read many stories and sang lots of songs!!

I will miss her very much, she has become part of the furniture.

I know she will love school and is ready to learn soooo much more xx

We are so excited for the Olympics that we are holding our own Olympic games.

Every day there will be an event for the children to take part in. Hopefully all the children will get to participate in each activity (some may be more than once).
There will be throwing, running, an obstacle course, simple gymnastics and an egg and spoon race just because!!

We will not only be having fun but also working on our physical development 🤫😉

Its been a busy week.

I need to get better at remembering to post pictures throught out the week!!

We started on Monday exploring the cardboard box. I left it in the garden to see what the children would do. They all loved climbing insode and closing down the flaps and hiding! By Tuesday afternoon the role play had began and they enjoyed turning into a bus and a rocket ship.

There has been free painting - some great art from all ages!!

The children have also enjoyed exploring the porridge - there has been scooping, pouring and mark making!

We have enjoyed lots of stories together and sang lots of songs!!

We have played games - practising taking turns and learning we dont always have to be the winner.

The children have enjoyed the large foam sponge, creating bubbles using all parts of their bodies.

I have been super impressed with their hula hooping skills!!

There has been water play - using giant syringes to sq**rt the water - great for building those arm muscles - pulling up and then pushing down. They have also enjoyed creating bubbles using washing up liquid and a potato masher - another muscle enhancing activity!! Very important in preparation for learning to write and hold a pencil/pen.

Spray painting was requested on Friday....they really enjoy watching the paint spray from out of the bottles and landing on the white sheet oh yeah and building up those hand musles!!

The youngest playmate has been weary of the tunnel but this week she made it through and realised it wasnt so bad and now there is no stopping her!!

There have been lots of other things going on as there is never a quiet moment and I wouldnt have it any other way!! xx

Its been a super busy week!!
Monday was a dry day, Tuesday there was lots and lots of rain, dry again on Wednesday and then Thursday and Friday was crazy hot.
So we have need a range of different clothing to enable our play from wellies and rainsuits to sun hats and suncream!!

There has been so many activities to keep ourselves busy:-

The usual resources - busy board, toolstation, chalk board, small world toys, babies/buggies, balls, cars and chutes, roleplay, musical instruments, books and more.

There has also been.....
Making and exploring playdough with loose parts,
Spray painting,
Mark making with paint using different tools and utensils,
Painting on the easels with shaving foam, this made a 3d effect!
Water play - with boats/sharks and also the solar fountain
Playing with rice krispies - they started by moving them around with the diggers and soon added scoops and bowls (I was super impressed it was only the 10month who realised they were tasty to eat!!)
Investigating the new tent - it was a cool place to play and read stories on friday afternoon!!
Practising our balancing skills using the coloured stepping stones and the tyres!

We have also managed a few walks out....
we enjoyed puddle jumping, hunting down the bin lorry and finding the gardeners cutting the grass and trimming the hedges. The children get very excited when they hear noises from the garden and not being tall enough to see over the wall they are soon at the gate asking to go for a walk to find out whats going on!! Xx

To some people this looks like mess and chaos!!

To me I can see all the things the children have enjoyed to play with, explore and create.

I can see the communication between two little ones as they play with the diggers in the sand.
I can see the joys on their faces when they explore the giant sponges and bubbles in the tuff tray.
I can see the critical thinking as they decide which way is the best to go sown the slide - on their bottoms or on their tummy!!
I can see the trial and error when building the train track and how they really think about which way the magnets on the train go so they can make the longest trains.
I can see the excitement to share a story together - that moment when we all snuggle up and nothing but the book matters.

I see so much throughout my day and I love every moment. Seeing a child grow, develop and learn is the best thing about my job and I love being a small part of that!!

Right now I am enjoyed the last few minutes of nap time with a warm cup of tea before the carnage begins again 🥰

What a busy walk around the neighbourhood today!!

We took our buggies and babies with us - lots of skills to learn and practice doing this - negotiating speed, spacial awareness, up and down curbs and learning the wheels move differently or not at all on different surfaces.

There was so much going on as we walked - we saw a man building a wall, spoke to an elderly man putting his shopping bags in his car - it was blue and stopped to say 'hello' to a cockapoo called Millie - little attract attention and in the right circumstances its great for confidence building and practicing language and communication.

On our estate there are lots of circle shapes water drain covers. The children love to spot them as we walk along. Today they had fun spotting other circles along our walk - totally unprompted and unplanned.

Now we are back in the garden where they are busy in the sand with the diggers and tractors! x

Yesterday we had a lovely walk. We enjoyed spotting all the different coloured flowers.
When we reached the grassy area the children had fun collecting up sticks. We chose a few to bring back with us and as we walked along they enjoyed tapping their sticks on fences, walls and metal railings to hear the different sounds they made

Tonight I have "attended" a training course about 'Re-discovering Play'.

It was very interesting, with a lot to think about!!

When did you as an adult last play??
There are so many benefits to play even as a adult - who knew.

Getting the balance right when playing with your children there are some things to consider
● remember not to take over their play,
● try not to teach them how to play but allow their imagination to run wild without to many questions or rules.
● the adult can initiate an idea but let the child take the lead in the direction of the play.
● wait to be invited never just assume you can join in!!
xx

Its been a very busy day.... there is never a quiet moment, never a time when nothing is happening, they are constantly moving from one activity to another and back again.

Today the children have enjoyed:-
☆ playing the ukulele
☆ checking out the new happyland constuction toy
☆ exploring the magnetic tiles - we talked about shape and colours
☆ painting
☆ investigating the sand by building sandcastles
☆ there were boats and sharks in the water table until they added pots, pans and things to scoop, fill and empty
☆ roleplay
☆story time!!

Today we started off by having warm soapy water with balls and spoons on the tuff tray. The children enjoyed splashing in the water and trying to scoop the balls - they were counting the balls, talking about the colours practising their hand eye co-ordination and more.

It was then requested if they could have the tea bags so they could make tea.
This time we had fruit flavoured tea bags - raspberry and peppermint.
The children enjoyed putting the tea bags in the tea pot, adding the water and giving it a stir.
They soon noticed if they left the bag in the water longer when they poured the tea it made different colours - purple when it was in for a short time and red when it was in for a long time (rapberry tea)
The children also noticed the smells of the different tea bags! ☕️🫖👬

Today's mud activity was playdough.
We combined flour, water and of course mud!!

It started very sticky but the more we added flour, stirred and kneaded we ended up with a pretty good dough. The children enjoyed squishing, squeezing, rolling, poking and adding herbs!! Xx

Bubble wrap!!

Throughout the week we have randomly got out the bubble wrap to explore.

The children have enjoyed using different ways of trying to pop it from jumping, stomping like dinosaurs, riding the big car over it, pushing the little cars, rolling, using our fingers, throwing in the air and more 🫧

We put water on the tuff tray and enjoyed paddling and splashing.

Today things got a little bit 'gloopy'

The children enjoyed adding water to the cornflour and paint as they start to mix the 3 primary colours together they got excited when they started to see different colours appear.
🔴🔵🟡🟢🟣🟠
It didnt take long for the paintbrushes to be forgotten about and the hands to take over.
The children really enjoyed moving their hands through the gloop and used some great descriptive language - 'slimy', 'sticky', 'cold' & 'messy'

After the gloop fun was over the water and bubble fun began!! 🫧💦
