Discover Zhangjiajie

VISIT MARRAKECH

A city of luxury, thanks to its famous palaces, 5-star restaurants, luxury spas and hammams and charming riads. To me, staying in a riad is what makes this city distinctive. These charming town houses are a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh's street markets and souks.

However, once on the streets, the delicious spices and wonderful cuisine is on every corner to tempt you. The Moroccan gardens are so colourful and vibrant. The architecture is traditionally Moorish with incredible intricate design.

DISCOVER ISTANBUL

A city of such Interest, its been named three times. What's strikingly interesting about Istanbul is it preserves so much it's history and now its grown into a sprawling metropolis with you waiting to explore each corner.

In the heart of the Sultanahmet , within a few moment's walk, you could feast your eyes on the Blue Mosque with its intricate detailed interior or the Hagia Sophia which has stood for nearly 1500 years. The Topkapi and Çırağan Palace show off more unique relics.

To me, Istanbul is much like Florence in that it's an outdoor museum. Basking in glorious sunshine for much of the year and just so pleasant to potter around.

You can find wonderful treasures from jewellery to carpets and other knickknacks in the Grand Bazaar And the city stands on two continents, no trip would be complete without a Bosphorus cruise.

EXPLORE THE NILE

Egypt's waterway and the world's longest river. The treasures of Egypt are so easily explored by riverboat. VISIT NEW ZEALAND

DISCOVER SICILY

Boasting a fantastic collision of cultures, Sicily holds ruins and relics built by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans and Arabs alike. Its arts, music, literature, cuisine, viniculture, and architecture are a blend and waiting to be explored.

Perched on the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco is in my opinion the gateway into California. The city itself is a colourful combination of historic architecture with Fisherman's Wharf, the towering magnificence in Union Square. It's vibrant Chinatown makes the perfect city break or starting point to explore California's riches.

As you branch out of the city, the fabulous wines from the Napa Valley and Sanoma make ideal day or overnight trips.

The bay's beauty with Golden Gate Bridge gleaming in the distance also provides the tastiest seafood cuisine and its wonderful aroma lingers along the bay. Just follow your nose!

VISIT CHICAGO

Riding a Cadillac on the buzzing Michigan Avenue, I found myself easily persuaded that Chicago could be ‘my kind of town’!

It is grand in its soul with features to match - the extensive Lake Shore, along with Chicago River lined with memorable high rise elegance. Major museums and public spaces, such as Millennium Square, have the ‘wow factor’.

There will be no regrets for the creative who parts with the best part of 40 dollars on entry to the ‘Art Institute of Chicago’ . See the law faculty where President Obama won his degree, and wander the impressive, yet tranquil suburbs to find homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

VISIT BERLIN

As Berlin left the 20th century, a modern, fresh vibrant city rose from the ashes of its divided past. And yet, Berlin has so much heritage still embedded within the city if you take the time to explore.

From its Prussian 18th century roots, the magnificent Brandenburg gate is outstanding. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church shows off late 19th Century splendour but now being a ruin, from the bombing raids during world war 2, you can also take in Berlin's darker past.

The eventful night of 9th November 1989 which made Europe one again. No trip would be complete without a visit to the remains. Understanding the elation of the people to see it come down.

DISCOVER JORDAN

Never have I been to such a country that astounded me more. I spent a week travelling across this country and feel in love with it. The fascinating city of Petra is essential. The treasury and monastery are masterpieces!

From the depths of the Wadi Rum. The Roman city of Jerash. The intriguing Roman amphitheatre in the centre of Amman, The healing properties of the Dead Sea, Mount Nebo, There is so much to take in. Or sit back and enjoy the slow pace of life in Aqaba with sumptuous hotels on the stunning Rea Sea and with some of the best diving in the world.

I found Jordanian hospitality so kind. The sites so beautifully well preserved. The food incredibly tasty. I consider my visit there to be my favorite trip anywhere.

DISCOVER BUDAPEST

Often coined as "Paris of the East". acity that has been occupied by so many empires, from Mongolian to the Ottoman, each leaving its mark. A gentrified metropolis of architecture boasting intricate churches, basilicas and Turkish baths.

The city is wonderful to explore on foot or by public transport. Budapest has the second oldest subway (London being the oldest) and the character from the original period on its metro line 1. Overground, their trams take in the magnificence of their Parliament and the Castle Quarter not to mention their magnificent bridges. A City well suited to couples and families alike.

I recommend the Palatinus water park on Margaret Island as an inexpensive yet vast waterpark that can entertain kids for the day. Memento Park just outside of the city gave a fascinating insight into life behind the iron curtain.

Explore Montreux

Sitting on the edge of Lake Geneva. Montreux is world famous for its jazz festival. It was also the home of Charlie Chaplin, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.

Surrounded by vineyards and set against a backdrop of snow covered mountains, it's such a pretty city. It has its own pleasant microclimate, and the lakeside is adorned with the colours and perfumes of exotic trees and flowers. Enjoy breathtaking walks along the promenade taking in the views.
