Alice is just back from the most wonderful in Turkey and thought she should share some holiday snaps to show what she got up to. It was a perfect combination of relaxing, reading (when was the last time you had time for reading!!), swimming and sightseeing. Days were spent floating in crystal clear turquoise bays, popping into beautiful little ports like and for a spot of shopping, hiking up hillsides to see ancient remains in and and enjoying the most delicious home-cooked Turkish cuisine four times a day (afternoon tea 😋!). There is also nothing quite like a cold on the foredeck of your own private gulet as the sun goes down on yet another perfect day. Of all the places in the world that we sell, this holiday is Alice’s favourite. If you like the look of this trip, a 6-cabin fully crewed gulet charter in Turkey starts from around £15,000 for up to 12 people on full board, per week, in the peak summer months of July and August. We’ve just had clients staying at Simbavati River Lodge in Greater Kruger NP with their young children and they loved it! 💕

The brief was to put together a family-friendly trip to South Africa combining a Big 5 Kruger Safari, Cape Town and the wine region that would be fun and inclusive for everyone – including the youngest child (aged 4). The Cape region is super family friendly, but a Kruger lodge that will permit children on game drives is a bit of a unicorn! That’s why we recommended Simbavati.

A beautiful lodge on the banks of the Nhlaralumi River in the private Timbavati Private Game Reserve (which has unfenced borders with Kruger National Park), Simbavati River Lodge is located in prime leopard and lion territory🦁🐆, so the wildlife sightings are spectacular. What makes it so special is that it works for couples and families alike, with romantic safari tents and a relaxing spa for the couples, and three family chalets with two bedrooms each, plus a kids centre, for families. Each tent and chalet has a beautiful game viewing deck with a riverfront view. 🙌🏻

At Simbavati River Lodge, everyone can enjoy some of the continent’s finest big cat game viewing without compromise – couples and families alike. Over sixes can join in the shared drives, and those with younger ones can opt for a private vehicle (at extra cost) so there’s no need for anyone to miss out. Here’s what our clients said about their stay: “Safari wise we were very lucky, leopard with kill, cheetah with kill, rhino twice, baby lions, lions hunting and the list goes on. Simbavati ranger and spotter were great! Cannot recommend this lodge highly enough.” We fully agree with our clients and we’re delighted that they loved Simbavati as much as we do!

🛎 Hotel Report: Waldorf Astoria RAK Alice just got back from a stay at this palatial beach resort in Ras al Khaimah and loved it! Here’s her opinion:

“We couldn’t believe that this tranquil beach resort with uninterrupted sea views was just 60 minutes by road from Dubai airport! For anyone looking for a contrast to the high rise hustle and bustle of Dubai, Ras al Khaimah is perfect. This is a truly luxurious but family friendly luxury beach resort, with super-spacious rooms (loads of interconnecting options!) and a huge beach. They have a lovely free form pool for families (as well as a stylish adult pool in a separate area) and just opened a new splash pad area, which has two slides my kids loved, and a toddlers’ area under shade with water play stations for little ones.

There are lots of little touches which make this place special, like the superb patisserie that had been left in our room for the kids when we checked in, and the kids passport that they can collect stamps from different places in the resort in, and then claim a lovely prize at the end. My daughter absolutely loves her Samir the hedgehog!

The food was fantastic, and everyone we spoke to also said it was a highlight so it wasn’t just us who thought so! We loved sushi at the fine dining Japanese restaurant Umi, but even the casual poolside food was inspired - think watermelon and feta salad and burrata and truffle pizza!

And there’s lots to do locally if you do want to explore. You can take a dhow cruise to the Mussandam fjords, to see dolphins and snorkel in the crystal clear waters. You can go kayaking in the mangroves, an area known for its vibrant birdlife, or head out with a guide to the desert to explore the sand dunes by 4x4 before enjoying a sunset picnic. And for thrill-seekers there’s which has an incredibly long zip line and fun mountain ‘sledder’ (kind of a toboggan on a track).

Best of all, Ras al Khaimah usually offers better value than Dubai - the hotel rates are more reasonable so all this luxury comes at a lower price point - what’s not to love?.”

Just booked! ✈️
We’ve got two families heading to the fabulous Luxor Hilton Resort & Spa this Easter and we couldn’t be more excited for them! In a prime location on the West Bank, in this resort-like hotel has uninterrupted Nile views away from the hustle and bustle of town yet only 10 minutes from some of the key sites of Luxor by complimentary shuttle. As you know, we generally avoid chain hotels but in our opinion, this is the best hotel in Luxor and one of the nicest in the Hilton portfolio full stop - it’s a real gem. 💎

Luxor Hilton is family friendly, with interconnecting-rooms and a fantastic pool, making it the perfect option for families who would like to introduce their kids to the wonders of Egypt in an accessible, fun way. They can have pancakes for breakfast, take a morning trip to see some temples then it’s back for an afternoon splashing in the pool while you look on from the Nile-side terrace with a cool drink in your hand. There’s babysitting available too.

Luxor Hilton is also great for couples. A spa getaway next to the banks of the Nile, it features 12 treatment rooms, a Nile-view infinity pool and an outdoor thermal garden. For a real treat, book a Spa Suite which comes with its own treatment room and massage table!

And we mustn’t forget about dining! There are options offering everything from Eastern cuisine to Mediterranean snacks with restaurants such as Olives and the Divan Corner, where you can lounge on oriental cushions, enjoy a drink and watch sailing boats drift down the Nile.

2-3 nights as part of a multi-stop Egypt itinerary is enough time to see the main sights of Luxor like the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temples, and that’s what we’ve booked this time for these lovely clients. ✨

But this resort is such a tranquil retreat you could book a stand-alone 7 day resort break here! With direct flights Heathrow to Luxor every Monday (taking just five and a half hours!) Why not nip over for some winter sun with a difference - you can take in the sights of Luxor at a nice, slow pace (including some of the lesser-visited gems), with plenty of time for lounging by the pool, spa treatments and Nile-side dining too.

Getting feedback like the lovely email we received this week from honeymooners Mehtap and Alex, is literally the reason we do this job 🥰. The pandemic played havoc with their 2020 wedding and honeymoon plans but after multiple postponements and two destination changes they got away on a beautiful trip to the Seychelles. They’ve shared some beautiful photos with us that they took whilst staying at their resort so scroll through to see! 📬 Postcard from Egypt: Our Director David is currently travelling through Cairo, Luxor and Aswan and reports that the safety protocols for tourism are excellent!

Hotel staff are almost all double-vaccinated, mask-wearing is adhered to by staff and guests, and he says Covid passes are checked at entry to all sites, hotels and museums.

We've really missed sendig clients to Egypt and with this news we think this amazing destination should be top of your winter sun picks!

Whether you're looking for culture with a Nile Cruise aboard the luxurious Sanctuary Nile Adventurer (Luxor - Aswan) or stylish Nour El Nil boats, or a beach stay at Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh or The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh (both amazing for snorkelling and diving too), Egypt has everything you could possibly want out of a holiday!

With flights to Cairo or Sharm el Sheikh just 5 and a half hours from London, it's closer than you think!

📷 Birds’ eye view of the Masai Mara by hot air balloon 😍. Taken by our recently returned honeymooners Matt and Emily who were originally due to travel to Peru and Brazil in July 2020. That trip sadly had to be cancelled, as did a subsequent plan to see the rugby Lions tour in South Africa this July. But within days of Kenya coming off the red list, we had them booked to go, and just a few weeks later they were soaring high above the plains on this adventure. We are so thrilled they finally got the amazing honeymoon they had waited so patiently for, even if it ended up being different to the one they had originally planned.
