The very first time I saw one of these Smart Self Balancing Hoverboard type things! I immediately thought? what is that? Where Can I get one? How much do they cost? It turns out these questions were harder to answer than I could Imagine. Firstly they have no official name! I have seen many variations of names as I am sure you have too! From Hoverboards to Swegways, Smart boards and Self Balancing Scooters along with many Overpriced Branded versions such as IO Hawk, Monorover, Funky Duck and Uwheels. Right so where can I get one? Unfortunately for me I found a review video suggesting I could get one for $200 if I bought it directly from the supplier in China. Sounded Great! So off I went In search of the supplier. I quickly realised that the $200 didn’t include postage fees of $100+ from china. On top of that, There was more than one supplier in fact lots more! I spent the following 10 days night after night trawling through Chinese Supplier websites well into the early hours trying to find the most reputable supplier! During this time one of my work colleagues had a bad experience dealing with a Chinese reseller he realised the board was made with inferior quality parts and complained of faulty sounds from the motor. He had to pay for postage back to china and eventually received his money back after some delay minus International bank transfer fees of 25. I was now even more sceptical about ordering from China. During my research I came across many resellers and received many quotes for cheaper versions, with lesser quality parts. As well as my personal email being bombarded with junk mail of all sorts! Some clearly scams, or very bad quality manufacturing standards at the least, offering me the boards for $39 Id be lucky if I received a Batterey and a link to a make your own youtube page at that price! At this point I realised legally getting a well-made, quality model into the UK after paying shipping and customs fees, for $200 just wasn’t going to happen. Thankfully my patience and research did reap some rewards when I did eventually manage to track down an actual manufacturer Of the Smart Balance Wheel as they call it. Our Supplier only uses top quality Brushless motors in their models and Genuine Samsung Batteries. However they only supply in Bulk! They did after some negotiations agree to offer me a sample model, (not free) if I was Interested in becoming a UK Supplier. A further 10 days on my First Smart Swag Board arrived and I couldn’t have been happier! Ever since I first showed my friends and family I have never been so popular and am regularly stopped and asked about it by curious people who want to know where to get one?
