The New York Times article mentions Jules White, skipper on the helm, and Team Liquid Racing, last edition Les Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille Class and Overall winners and this year's St. Maarten Heineken Regatta Class and Overall winners! Difficult act to follow perhaps?

The owner of Liquid, Pamala Baldwin has her young crew out on the water early to get things right. The key to winning, she said, is hard work.

Here's the article from the The New York Times 🗞 https://nyti.ms/37Ymj60

Features our Beaulieu River Boat Trip with picnic lunch presented by Michelin recommended The Elderflower restaurant Lymington in Lymington and an award-winning sparkling Rose from Marlings Vineyard here in the New Forest.

We may not be able to see it whilst here in the Caribbean for our Winter Season, so let us know how it goes!

Salamander will be back for another UK Summer Season starting 25th June. Bookings already being taken for what promises to be another busy summer.

You too can follow in Susan Calman’s footsteps!

Julian White and Ross Applebey dare to win Royal Ocean Racing Club Transat IRC Overall!

250 nm to go ..... Blowing kites in 30 plus kt squalls at night and only needing to maintain 8.6 kts to the finish to win the big prize. A tall order with lighter winds predicted but the crew are trimming incessantly to try and win the big prize.

They are already leading in their class IRC 1.

Good luck Team Scarlet Oyster

Thank you to our fantastic crew who made the win in Racing Division Class B possible (we were also an amazing 3rd in Racing Overall), but who could not make the prize-giving as they had already flown home to various corners of the world to reunite with loved ones and to ARC Atlantic Rally for Cruisers for organizing another great event for everyone to take part in and enjoy.

See you next year!

Hot News from the Caribbean!

Salamander wins this year’s ARC Atlantic Rally for Cruisers Racing Class B and wins 3rd Overall in the Racing Division against top international competition.

Thanks to a great amateur crew who had never crossed an ocean before departing Las Palmas in the Canaries in November, some superb Salamander trade winds rocking and rolling us to the finish in hot hot St. Lucia here in the Caribbean and the IRC handicap system affording us the chance to compete for and cherish a memorable and unexpected Salamander win against great friends and seasoned racers alike.

Certainly our 10th and maybe our best Atlantic crossing so far!

PS We also know how to cruise and celebrate in true Caribbean style. If you are interested in joining our next adventure simply whether for some warm water sailing here in the Caribbean or for that special celebration in the UK when we return in June next year.

Thanks to all who make it possible.

Slow out of the blocks! But we are now well on our way with 1132nm to run to St Lucia! The crew has done a great job getting back into the race, slightly less pressure to come so will have to continue the hard work right to the end! Currently lying 2nd in Racing B and 4th in Racing All. Great effort! ⛵️🌊 ARC Atlantic Rally for Cruisers

3 YEARS and 35,000 NAUTICAL MILES LATER SALAMANDER CIRCUMNAVIGATED THE WORLD

We knew Salamander, a 1987 Sparkman and Stephens 58ft Nauticat 521, could do it, but could we? It took 9 months to prepare Salamander and ourselves, a family of four novice sailors. We returned to Lymington three years and 35,000 NM later having circumnavigated the world and having had the time of our lives.

As a family from when the children were age 5 and 7, we had been used to arranging our own adventures in far-flung places, from Cuba and Central America, to Africa and the Far East. The only disease we ever picked up from desert or jungle had been the “Travel Bug”. As the children grew older and air flights were becoming a more significant cost we realised our children had been relatively immune from European experiences.

What to do to remedy this? A motorhome seemed a good idea, but it would have to be large enough to give each of us corners in which to read a book during rainy days. In 2006, we found just the motorhome, a 40ft American RV. It was great in every respect from overall size to the huge 4-door stainless steel fridge freezer. There was, however, a hurdle to overcome before we could take delivery of our new motorhome. HGV licences! Sounds easy, but being both past 50, we both had to undo all the bad habits wilfully gained, whether driving a car or riding a motorcycle, in order to pass the justifiably rigorous HGV test. 📷 From the Atlantic Highway in Norway in the North

We loved the space and appreciated the freedom which the RV gave us. We used it during every school holiday from Easter 2006 through to the summer of 2009, by which time we had travelled 46,000 miles in England, Scotland and in mainland Europe from Norway in the north, to Morocco in the south, and from Portugal in the west, to Greece in the east, and most countries in between. 📷 to the deserts of Morocco in the South
