Wishing everyone happiness and joy on the occasion of Gudi Padwa!

Gudi Padwa, the first day of the month of Chaitra, is a celebration of spring and the beginning of the harvest season. Trees are decked up with beautiful blossoms, birds and bees buzz about merrily, and tiny raw mangoes have begun to peek out from under the foliage. Soon they will grow to the full size we are all accustomed to and their fragrance will fill the air when they ripen.

Featured here is a Palash tree in full bloom. Also known as "Flame of the forest", its flowers are bright red and succulent and in such profusion that the ground below is carpeted with red, making it a delightful sight. This tree is found in abundance all over Konkan region, and has multiple uses in the daily life of the people.

Come to Alibaug, and take a slow cycle ride to enjoy everything the season and the countryside has to offer!

We have listened to your feedback, and improved the one day cycle ride to make it snappier, and more fun!

This new ride is just about 7 km along empty rural roads, next to paddy fields, beaches and lakes! And to top it all, it passes through tree cover most of the most of the time to keep you from the sun!

Add to that delicious Konkani style breakfast and lunch, and you have the perfect weekend picnic with family and friends!

The main street of the picturesque little village of Sasawne is a must visit. Houses sporting a typically Konkani architecture with mud or stone walls, roofs with Mangalore tiles, wooden railings for balconies, wooden staircase, and a garden with coconut, mango, jackfruit trees abounding with various birds all make for a memorable ride!

This particular forested place of Aarey was about to be developed as a Zoo. We are yet to see papers which say that the Zoo plan is cancelled. @adityathackeray @cmomaharashtra_ Justice delayed is justice denied. Our demands are not yet fulfilled: 1. Scrap all new concretization projects in Aarey including Zoo 2. Declare entire Aarey as a protected forest and assign forest officials for even the 808 acres which is not done yet! Aarey is more than 3000 acres. 3. Restart the defunct fire brigade of Aarey before miscreants again start burning the forest as the rains are gone now. (Really shocked why haven't you done this simple thing yet..) 4. Reforest the former car-shed site of Aarey Forest. Neither you are removing the tin-sheets and the dump yourself nor giving permission to the citizens to do the plantation there. 5. Remove the illegal encroachments & reforest them immediately. We don't want more man-wildlife conflicts. 6.
