Mt. Makalu (8,463m) is the fifth tallest mountain of the world. A close neighbor to Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga, it lies in the northeast region of Nepal in the Makalu-Barun National Park bordering Tibet. Makalu means the Great Black One, so called due to its dark brooding appearance. Makalu has steep pitches and knife-edges ridges which make it relatively less attempted mountain and is considered one of the most difficult mountains in the world.

Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world and is located near Mount Everest & Kanchenjunga in the Makalu Barun National Park. It is the most difficult & challenging mountain to climb.

The Kanchenjunga Himal encompasses 16 peaks over 7,000m but the highest five peaks are Kanchenjunga Main, Kanchenjunga West, Kanchenjunga Central, Kanchenjunga South and Kangbachen. Known as “Five treasures of snow” after its five high peaks, Kanchenjunga is worshipped by the people of Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Gyachung Kang lies between Cho Oyu and Mount Everest. It was first climbed in 1964 by Y. Kato, K. Sekizawa and Pasang Photo of a Japanese expedition where as the north face of the mountain was first climbed in 1999 by a Slovene expedition and was repeated by Yasushi Yamanoi in 2002.

Gyachung Kang is the fifteenth highest peak n of the Khumbu region lying in between Mount Everest and Cho Oyu.
