Himalaya Airlines, a joint venture between Nepal and China, will have a weekly direct flight from Kathmandu to Beijing starting June 24th. They plan to increase the number of flights based on passenger demand. Currently, they have one flight per week on Saturdays. Air China and Sichuan Airlines operate three flights a week from Chendu to Kathmandu, and Air China plans to have a daily flight from July onwards, although the schedule is not yet available.

The government has introduced VAT for domestic airlines in engine and spare parts, making airfare 13% more expensive. This has caused a budget crisis, leading to an emergency meeting by the Airline Operators Association of Nepal. They are discussing the need to persuade the government against implementing the VAT exemption system. Additionally, domestic airlines such as Buddha, Yeti, Shree, Saurya, Guna, Tara, Sita, Summit, etc. have been charging various fees like fuel surcharge, airport service charge, and air freight charges.

Pokhara International Airport will have its first international flight after 6 months of operation. China's Sichuan Airlines has offered two charter flights to Chengdu-Pokhara. The flights are scheduled for June 21, and more details are yet to be announced. Society International is the official ticketing company for Sichuan Airlines in Nepal.

Other airline companies like Buddha, Yeti, Shree, and Saurya have been operating regularly at the airport since January 1st. Himalaya Airlines, Jazeera Airways, Sichuan Airlines, and others are also considering regular flights from this airport. Additionally, Buddha Air has begun the process for regular flights to different cities in India.

Nepal has lifted all Covid-related protocols for international and domestic flights. Mask-wearing, vaccination cards, and PCR tests are no longer required for travelers coming to Nepal, unless it is mandatory in their departure country. The decision was made by the Civil Aviation Authority and applies to airports and airlines. The authority has notified both international and domestic airlines operating in Nepal about the change. This move allows domestic airlines to resume their onboard services and facilities that were previously restricted.

The government plans to upgrade 8 airports and develop them as regional airports. The airports include Biratnagar, Bharatpur, Nepalganj, Dhangadhi, Chaurjahari, Tarigaon, Khalanga and Jumla. Additionally, the government aims to make air transport more accessible by providing concessions to airlines serving remote areas.

Nepal Airlines Corporation is expediting flights to Sydney, Australia. Sydney Airport has granted permission for two flights per week, scheduled on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Corporation has submitted the necessary details to the Australian Civil Aviation for flight approval. The airline will operate flights from Kathmandu to Sydney with a transit in Singapore. The Corporation is currently in the process of selecting a GSA (General Sales Agent) and catering companies for passenger services. Additionally, fuel suppliers and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) providers have been selected for Singapore and Sydney airports. The airline is preparing to fly widebody aircraft to Sydney, Australia.

BREAKING NEWS – Hari Budha Magar creates history as he successfully conquers Everest!

At around 3pm on May 19th, Hari stood victorious atop the world’s tallest mountain as the first ever double above-knee amputee to scale Mt Everest.

Thirteen years after losing his legs in Afghanistan, Hari has proved disability is no barrier to reaching the 8,849 metre peak.

Hari’s climb was made possible by a world class team of Nepalese climbers, led by expedition leader Krish Thapa. At the top, Hari shouted “We did it!”, a reference to, and in recognition of, the team effort that enabled this success.

Over a satellite phone call, made possible by NSSL Global GmbH to his team off the mountain, he added; “That was tough. Harder than I could have ever imagined. We just had to carry on and push for the top, no matter how much it hurt or how long it took. If I can climb to the top of the world then anyone, regardless of their disability, can achieve their dream. No matter how big your dreams, no matter how challenging your disability, with the right mindset anything is possible.

“When things got really tough it was the thought of my amazing family and everyone who's helped me get onto the mountain that pushed me to the top. Without the support of so many this expedition simply wouldn't have been possible.”

Hari is now safely down at basecamp and is urging supporters from around the world to dig deep as he raises money for five veteran charities including Team Forces/Team Army, The Gurkha Welfare Trust, Pilgrim Bandits Charity, Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, and On Course Foundation, with the aim of raising over £884,900, the height of Everest plus two zeros.

Nepal Airlines Corporation is starting regular flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa from 2076 Jestha 2076. According to flight schedule, ticket bookings have been opened for flights in Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu. The corporation is currently planning to start from Bhairahawa with one flight a week and increase the number of flights to other destinations as per the market demand and market management of the corporation.

Shuttle Bus is also being arranged in the near future to transport from Johorbaru of Malaysia to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). After this, passengers will be able to travel easily from Kathmandu to Kwala Lumpur and Johorbaru, similarly from Johor Baru to Kathmandus or Bhairahabas by taking tickets. The corporation believes that this will provide additional facilities to the passengers.
Additional travel packages will also be arranged at the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha to attract international travelers.
