Ssezibwa Falls one of the city breaks you can quickly do while in Kampala, Uganda. The Ssezibwa falls is located 35km away from Kampala city as you head to the adventure town of Jinja, home to the source of the longest River Nile.
The falls are of a cultural and traditional significance to the people in this region especially to the Baganda the main Ethnic group here in central Uganda. The indigenous people here believe that the falls were birthed by a woman, so some folks flock the site especially in the evenings to perform spiritual and traditional ceremonies within the caves, under the trees and on rocks surrounding the falls.
A short hike after crossing the river on a wooden walk board takes you to these sites and then through the wetland at the top of the falls where the River Ssezibwa flows gently over the rocky outcrops to form the falls that flow a few meters below. Other activities you can do here are biking, community visits and birding.
The Riverside woods an option in this area for your accommodation and for fresh organic meals right from the farm to your plate. Be assured of discounted entry fees to the Ssezibwa falls if you will have booked your accommodation at this lodge. The evening campfire at the Lodge gives you an opportunity to relieve your experience with friends over a cold drink; served at a fee of course π
