Virginia Highlands Festival Photography Competition The Photography Competition is an annual event dedicated to showcasing regional photographers. Photographs will be on display at the William King Museum of Art.

If you are unable to drop off your photos in Abingdon, we have two other locations available to bring your entries. For Asheville entries, you can drop off and pick up your photos at:

Johnson City, TN. The Virginia Highlands Festival

2016 Photography Competition and Exhibition will be held from July 29 through August 7. Categories this year will be: Youth, Amateur, Professional, and Altered Images. Cash Prizes for this year's competition will be:
1st place - $200.00, 2nd - $100.00, and 3rd - $50.00
People's Choice - $150.00, and Best in Show - $300.00. This year's Photography competition judge is David Simchock from Asheville, NC. He has built his career on travel and music photography to great popular and critical acclaim. His work can be seen here as a testament to his philosophy of keeping it simple while approaching his subject matter with a creative eye. Photographers may drop off their entries into the competition in the basement of the Museum Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 from 1-5 pm. Entry fees are as follows: $5 Youth, $10 Amateur, $15 Professional per entry.
