A common misconception is that manatees are slow 🦥. It’s true that much of a manatee's day is spent moving along at a leisurely pace and floating at the surface of the water.
Did you know the manatee can sprint 🏃 at nearly 20mph? 🤯
Book today!

Captain Jake and in-water guide Shawn are two of the best and we’re proud to have them on our team.

During the winter months, the Three Sisters Springs are primarily a sanctuary space for resident and migratory manatees. This means human access to the springs might be restricted for the benefit of the manatees, depending on Gulf of Mexico temperatures. With nearly 650 acres of bay, there are still plenty of areas and opportunities to explore!
Want to keep up with spring closures? Visit Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex on Facebook.

When dealing with wild animals, especially in their home, it’s important to have patience! Even in low visibility or murky waters, there are plenty of amazing moments to be had.
With cold weather in the forecast, the time is now to book your one-of-a-kind ecotour:

When you’re in the waters of Kings Bay you’re a visitor to the wild manatees home. As a group that believes strongly in passive observation, we rely heavily upon freeze and float. This approach allows manatees the right of way, allows them to maintain their natural habits, and frequently results in some amazing moments.
Cold overnight temperatures result in amazing eco-tours. Book now!

Everyone loves our propellor guards, especially the manatees!
The guards combined with the slow speeds mandated inside Kings Bay help protect the manatees and their backs from boat strikes.
We are proud to have a Guardian Guide endorsement from the Save the Manatee Club and we’re constantly working to ensure the best ecotours for humans and manatees alike!

Cold overnight temperatures drive the manatees into the warm springs of Kings Bay. We’re getting to see plenty of barnacle-covered little spuddy buddies like this one!

Sometimes you just need to take a break and enjoy some manatees. All of the manatees you’ll see during your eco-tour are 100% wild and free. We practice passive observation which means we stay hands off and allow the manatees to act naturally without our interfering. This allows both the humans and the manatees the best experience possible.

Did you know, a female manatee gives live birth to, usually, a single calf every 2-5 years? At birth, the average calf measures in at about 4” (1.2m) and weighs up to about 60lbs (27kg). Calves can swim, nurse, and vocalize to the mother soon after birth. Within the first few weeks, the calf can start munching on vegetation in addition to nursing. Typically the calf will follow the mother as she travels her migration path learning along the way where plentiful food is, safe waters, and during the colder months where to find warm water!
