The Idyllwild Town Crier newspaper was founded in 1946 by Ernie and Betty Maxwell. It has been in weekly or semi-weekly publication ever since, serving the communities of Southern California's San Bernardino National Forest, including Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Fern Valley, Mountain Center, Garner Valley, Poppet Flat, Pinyon and Anza. In 2013, after the dissolution of the Idyllwild Chamber of Commerce,

the Town Crier opened a visitors center to serve an important need in our resort town. Idyllwild Town Crier is under the parent company Idyllwild House Publishing, Ltd., owned by Jack and Becky Clark. Becky has worked at the Town Crier since the 1980s and now serves as Publisher/Editor. Jack serves as Co-Publisher, Legal Counsel, Pro Golf Correspondent, Delivery Driver and Fashion Columnist. Idyllwild House Publishing Company also publishes the bi-monthly Palms to Pines Magazine, the bi-annual Explore Idyllwild Directory and Map, the annual Idyllwild Phone Book and Homes on the periodic Hill Real Estate section.

Update 2:53 p.m.: The fire is 3-5 acres and located on the east side of Bee Canyon traveling northwest.

At 2:36 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, the U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire responded to the report of a vegetation fire at Highway 74 and Blackburn Road near Valle Vista. The fire is reported in Bee Canyon.

The Idyllwild Town Crier newspaper was founded in 1946 by Ernie and Betty Maxwell. Under Becky’s leadership, the Town Crier has won numerous local, state and national awards, many for its stance toward transparency in local government.
