"Yoga isn't about being good at something. It's about being good to yourself."
Lauren developed a love for yoga during the early years of college. She found herself coming back again and again, loving the positive benefits. In the yoga studio she found self confidence, strength, and a way to quiet the stress of her outside life, and she continued her practice, she wanted to bring that to others
. In her senior year of college, figuring it wouldn't be challenging enough on its own, she enrolled in a 200 hour yoga teacher training program at Zenya Yoga Academy, in Newport News, Virginia. She graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelors Degree, and two days later became a certified yoga teacher. Now a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, her hope is to help her students find their own peace and clarity on the mat. She truly believes yoga is for every body, and aims to create classes that make her students feel strong and confident, and leave them happier and stress free. Her classes are fun and flowy, with a strong focus on alignment and finding a deeper understanding of yourself, with the occasional corny joke thrown in. She has taken additional workshops on various topics like stress, the chakras, and adjustments, with instuctors such Rolf Gates or Brendan Lentz. She also has a strong interest in working with tweens and teens in yoga after seeing how much it could have helped her. She is certified in Childlight Yoga's "Yoga for Teens and Tweens" classes and teacher series from time to time.
Lauren loves baking, craft projects, Harry Potter, rainy days, and spending late nights talking with friends, among many other things. She's passionate about rescuing animals, saving the plant through encouraging others to treat it better, and women's rights. She's also a major advocate for body positivity, encouraging you to love your body exactly how you are. When she isn't on the mat, she can be found at her local animal shelter volunteering with stray animals, in her favorite bookstore writing (or playing on Pinterest), or going on adventures in her home state.
