We recently had the privilege to go and visit the Naksel hotel in the mountains of Bhutan! Our stay here was absolutely incredible with the most amazing views over Paro Valley. Definitely worth visiting on your stay here within Bhutan. This place is idyllic and right off close to Paro International Airport. Bhutan is closed for all tourism at the moment, but please follow the posts as we trust to see the country open later this year.

See the picture below showing the incredible view directly from your own bedroom window.

We agree !
Our ❤ for chillies can be tasted in every curry thats made.

Every dish in the Bhutanese cuisine has copious amount of Chillies. People don’t touch the dish if it’s not spicy enough as eating Chillies are deeply rooted in our culture.

Read up !

Bhutan is one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit, charging a tax (or fee) of $250 per person per day.

WHY DO THEY DO THIS?

In this video, I explain the reasoning behind why the Bhutanese government charges this much, and why I strongly believe that it's worth spending the money to visit!

Have you ever been to Bhutan? Are you planning to go? Stay tuned for tomorrow, as we're going to hike up to the famous Tiger's Nest!

We celebrated our King' s 10th year of rule by cleaning our towns.
It was such an amazing sight to see everyone come togther and work towards realizing His Majesty' s dream of Clean Bhutan.

"Where we live must be clean, safe, organised, and beautiful, for national integrity, national pride, and our bright future. This too is nation building."
- His Majesty The King.

Bhutanese across the country celebrated the happy occasion of the 10th Anniversary of His Majesty's Reign, by cleaning their towns, streets, and surroundings, as a special offering from the people to His Majesty The King.

Bhutanese Losar was made special by the release of first picture of our new born Prince .. Happy Losar

❦ Bhutanese families spent a wonderful Losar today, celebrating the day with family and loved ones. To make the day even more special, we have the honour of bringing to you the very first official photograph of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.

In this delightful Losar Kupar from Lingkana Palace, His Royal Highness The Gyalsey is surrounded by His Majesty The King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.

His Royal Highness The Gyalsey was born on the 5th of February 2016, and is the first Royal Child of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen. ❦

06/02/2016

On this joyous occasion, we would like to join our Beloved Majesty The King & The Queen in celebrating the birth of our Royal Prince.😊😊🎉🎉🎊

Our happiness knows no bounds, as we announce the Royal Birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey on 5th February 2016.

Our Prince, the first Royal Child of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema, was delivered safely at the Lingkana Palace, Thimphu. His Majesty was at Her Majesty's side during the time of the delivery. Following the Royal Birth, His Royal Highness was first presented to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and His Royal Highness are both in perfect health.

All sacred Bhutanese traditions were observed for the auspicious occasion, with His Holiness the Je Khenpo presiding over the religious ceremonies.

Their Majesties and members of the Royal family are filled with profound joy on the birth of His Royal Highness.

Their Majesties expressed appreciation to the Bhutanese medical team for their service.

Their Majesties also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Zhung Dratshang, Rabdeys, and other religious organizations who performed prayer ceremonies in all the Dzongs and Lhakhangs across the country for the wellbeing of His Royal Highness, Their Majesties, and the people of Bhutan.

We join the people of Bhutan in our heartfelt prayers for the wellbeing of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, and in the expression of our joy on this momentous occasion.

Peeping through the viewfinder of my camera, snapping repeatedly at the dramatic mountain scene in front of me, the thin, oxygen-depleted air rasped against my larynx. The Kingdom of Bhutan has become an unparalleled carbon sink – absorbing three times more CO2 emissions than its 700,000 citizens produce.

At the Paris Climate Talks, the Himalayan Kingdom pledged to keep its forests intact to help the rest of the world combat climate change.

On top of that Bhutan has pledged to reforest its land even further. Last summer, it set a world record for the most trees planted in one hour – nearly 50,000.

Share this news to say a huge "thank you" to Bhutan!

Tshering Tobgay

Excitement is in the air, as all of Bhutan prepare to celebrate the Great Fourth's 60th birth anniversary on 11th of November. I stopped by Changlimithang stadium this morning to see the preparations there, and came across Aum Dema, 84 years, practicing a dance with her friends, all 60 years and older, all thoroughly enjoying themselves.
