The blessing ceremony at Buddha Point, Kuenselphodrang, Thimphu today marks the start of Bhutan's 50 years of tourism celebration. This event brought together dignitaries, locals, and visitors to honour half a century of welcoming travelers to experience Bhutan's culture and natural beauty.

The ceremony featured traditional rituals led by monks, offering blessings for peace and prosperity in Bhutan, as well as for all sentient beings around the world. The atmosphere was respectful and celebratory, reflecting the country's deep spiritual roots. The event shared gratitude for the past years as well as optimism for the future. Starting today, the first 15,000 Bangladeshi tourists in a year will only have to pay USD 15 as sustainable development fees.

This amount is equivalent to the Rs 1,200 levied on Indian tourists.

This special annual scheme for Bangladeshi tourists is valid until 2027.

If the number of tourists exceeds 15,000 in a year, the remaining will pay the usual USD 100 SDF.

Bangladeshi tourists can apply for Bhutanese visa online or obtain it upon arrival.

Bhutan and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations in 1973, two years after Bangladesh's independence.
