T124 from RTR undergoing a puppy yoga pose after taking a nap away from her kids. This is one of the poses that is regularly performed and greatly valued not just by humans but also by animals. Here are some of the benefits of this pose:

Habitat shot at Satpura Tiger Reserve -

We started this safari at the madhai gate. As soon as we entered the forest we heard a burst of alarm calls. However the tigress was not to be seen. All the gypsies around us started to leave one after the other. But we decided to wait.

In the hour that we waited , we photographed birds and heard stories of Satpura from our naturalist Mr. Harendra sahu. In the middle of a story , we heard an alarm call again. No other gypsies in sight we decided to follow the alarm call.

Soon we were in a section of this beautiful green patch where the tigress decided to start patrolling her territory. We were lucky enough to be the only gypsy there and got a chance to get this picture. This is one of my dream frames and I don’t think I’ll get an opportunity like this to photograph a tiger in a lush green back drop.

I’m soon realising that March might perhaps be a great month to photograph tigers / wildlife.

Gears used were the Nikon z7ii and the 300f4 lens. I wish I had the 180-600 lens to try and get a closer frame. The picture was taken between 10-11 am with the following exif - iso 125 f4 1/1000 as the tigress was moving fairly quickly.

So posted a picture this morning of a tigress fondly called Daisy from Tipeshwar this morning. She is said to be staying with her mom, tigress T2.

However the mother tigress T2 mated with another male tiger and has delivered 3 young cubs. One of the young cubs is shown in this picture. (Basically the father of this young cub and the father of daisy are different, but the young cub and Daisy share the same mother T2)

What is interesting is that the 3 year old “Daisy” tigress still stays with the older tigress T2 and her new cubs. Whenever tigress T2 is out for a hunt , the 3 year old “Daisy” takes care of these young cubs.

This may be contrary to what is usually believed to be true about the relationship shared between an adult tiger and young cubs belonging to other Tigress.

We love such stories from the wild ! Please , sincerely don’t give up on the smaller/ lesser known forests of India. They have so much to offer.

What happens when the king decides to enjoy the pool ? This is a scene out of Ranthambore national park zone 10 where a mother tigress was in a water hole with her cub. This was Aishwarya T99 and one of her cubs and it was April of 2023. Suddenly the male tiger decided that he wants to enjoy the pool. With one growl, Aishwarya ran for the fences. The young cub thought he would keep his father some company but another growl had him scattering away. That’s the power of a dominant male tiger. Can’t wait to be back in the jungles !!
